Choosing a breeder

With so many breeds and breeders to choose from it can be hard to know where to start.

Indeed, you may be wondeering how much it matters what the breeder does in terms of puppy enrichment and training. The answer is a surprising amount. If you have any doubt about this, ask yourself why organisations like Guide Dogs for the Blind, the Military and any other organisation that requires a high level of training for their dogs are very strict about the specific enrichment that their dogs receive as puppies. The correct enrichment can make the difference between a confident dog and one that is easily stressed, making them more difficult to train, more prone to stress related illness and many other issues.

As an Easy Peasy Qualified Instructor I can offer you solid, science backed advice on how to find the best breeders and what questions to ask. I also have access to a network of mentors and colleagues who will have identified good breeders in their areas. The IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) of which I am a member works with many breeders to help them raise the standards of the puppies they sell. Choosing the right breeder and puppy can make life much easier for you and your pup; giving your pup a greater resilience to everyday life and lower levels of stress and anxiety which in turn make them more able to learn.
